CINCINNATI – Race Street will be closed between Findlay Street and McMicken Avenue for approximately three hours tomorrow, Wednesday, May 4, for the delivery of the fifth and final streetcar vehicle at the Maintenance and Operations Facility (MOF) in Over-the-Rhine. In addition, Henry Street will be closed between Elm and Race.
The closure is expected at approximately 2 pm, but is dependent on traffic. A more specific time will be provided tomorrow via Twitter as the schedule is updated by the delivery company. Check @RoadmapCincy for the latest information.
The flatbed tractor-trailer carrying the streetcar will travel north on Race via Liberty Street.
Law enforcement will proceed in front and behind the flatbed as a safety measure to alert motorists and pedestrians. There will be brief, rolling closures along Liberty and Race streets as the streetcar travels though intersections.
It will take approximately 90 minutes for the streetcar to be unloaded onto the tracks adjacent to the MOF at 1927 Race Street.
Race Street south of Findlay to Liberty will reopen once the tractor-trailer passes through this stretch. All streets will be reopened after the streetcar is unloaded and delivered into the MOF.
On-street parking will be restricted along Race for the delivery.
The vehicle was assembled by CAF USA in Elmira, N.Y. It will undergo on-track acceptance testing in Cincinnati later this week or next.
