CINCINNATI – Joe Nuxhall Way will be closed between Freedom Way and Mehring Way 24/7 beginning Monday, April 25, through Wednesday, April 27, so crews may set the next round of concrete panels for the AC Marriott Hotel.
A full closure is needed to accommodate the crane that will set the panels in place on the sixth story of the seven-story hotel under construction at The Banks.
Motorists who wish to travel south on Joe Nuxhall Way will be detoured east at Second Street, south on Broadway/Johnny Bench Way, west on Mehring Way to Elm Street to Freedom Way. Motorists who wish to head north on Joe Nuxhall Way will be detoured via Mehring Way as well.
No through traffic will be allowed in this stretch of Joe Nuxhall Way during the closure. Parking access to the Central Riverfront Garage will be maintained via Mehring Way and Walnut.
In addition, the west sidewalk in this same stretch of Joe Nuxhall Way will remain closed. The strip of sidewalk along Freedom Way is open via covered scaffolding.
Pedestrians will be detoured to the east sidewalk immediately adjacent to Great American Ball Park, then south to Mehring Way.
Detour signage for motorists and pedestrians will be posted.
The contractor plans to conduct similar closures for additional concrete panel deliveries in May.
An update will be provided closer to the projected dates.
Exterior work on the seven-story AC Marriott is expected to wrap up in spring 2017.
