CINCINNATI – Second Street will be closed between Vine and Walnut beginning at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, through 4:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, so crews for the Cincinnati Streetcar can prep and pave the area.
Southbound Walnut between Second and Third will be reduced to one left-turn lane at Second.
Motorists traveling east on Second Street will be detoured south at Rosa Parks (Vine Street), east on Freedom Way, north on Joe Nuxhall Way and east again on Second. Motorists on Walnut Street will be detoured east on Second Street, south on Joe Nuxhall and west on Freedom Way. Detour signs will be posted.
In addition, Walnut between Second and Freedom Way will be closed. Local access for businesses and residents will be allowed via Freedom Way.
Police will be stationed at key intersections during morning and evening rush hours to help keep traffic moving. Pedestrian access on Second Street will be maintained via a temporary crosswalk.
Other streetcar work
Eastbound Court Street between Walnut and Main will be closed this Saturday, Sept. 12, between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. so streetcar crews may perform underground electric work for a power substation.
Motorists heading east on Court Street will be detoured south on Walnut Street, east on Seventh and north on Main.
Detour signage will be posted and pedestrian access maintained. On-street parking at metered spaces on this part of Court Street will be prohibited for the day. The westbound side of Court Street will be open.
Crews also began milling Main Street this week between 12th and Ninth streets in preparation for paving next week. Be aware that this stretch of Main may be congested intermittently because of crews using equipment 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. but through traffic will be allowed. Crews will work later in the evening as well, paving intersections between 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Again, through traffic will be allowed.
