CINCINNATI – Crews doing $9.9 million in rehabilitation work to city streets are preparing to pave and finish the three remaining target neighborhoods.

Crews recently finished full-depth, curb and driveway repairs, and are now adjusting utility castings in Avondale, Corryville and Northside in preparation for final paving this month in those neighborhoods. Except for minor finish work, rehab is complete in five of the eight initial target neighborhoods of Kennedy Heights, Madisonville, Pleasant Ridge, Evanston and North Avondale.

This rehab project is funded as part of the city’s Capital Acceleration Plan. It covers approximately 37 lane miles in eight neighborhoods in 2016. Combined with the annual street improvement program, outside grants and CAP, the city is investing approximately $172 million to rehabilitate or resurface more than half its 2,936 total lane miles in all 52 neighborhoods by June 30, 2021.

Please see below for a complete list of streets that have undergone rehabilitation in 2016.

The type of work varied based on the condition of each street but generally included:
  • Grinding and leveling
  • Replacing curbs and curb ramps
  • Repairing driveway aprons and sidewalks, as required
  • Adjusting utility castings to grade
  • Final surface coat of new pavement
  • Line striping

On-street parking will be prohibited, as needed, to accommodate crews for paving. Signs will be posted in advance to allow motorists time to find alternate parking options. In most cases, these temporary restrictions will be in place for less than 24 hours and a street will be reopened by 6:00 p.m. Violators will be towed per city ordinance.

A final update on the rehab project will be sent later this month.
