CINCINNATI – Elm Street between 14th and Liberty will be closed 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, and Friday, Dec. 11, so crews for the Cincinnati Streetcar may conduct tests that require repeated acceleration and braking along a straight stretch of track.
The tests will check noise and vibration levels on the interior and exterior of the vehicle. Crews need to close Elm to accommodate microphones and recording equipment at the site.
Parking also will be prohibited along this stretch of Elm during the tests.
Motorists driving north on Elm will be detoured west onto 14th and north on Central Parkway, east on Liberty and back to Elm. Detour signage will be posted.
In addition, 15th Street will be closed between Pleasant Street and Elm. Local access will be allowed via Central Parkway for residents and businesses on Wade, Odeon and Magnolia. Access to 15th between Elm and Central Parkway will be maintained via Odeon to Blanca Alley.
Crews will continue various on-track tests until pausing for the holidays on Dec. 17. Testing will resume in early January.
