Tower Crane Being Set Up for Apartment Tower, Garage Construction near Holiday Inn Site
CINCINNATI – Eighth Street will be closed between Broadway and Sycamore streets beginning at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 18, until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, so crews may install a tower crane for the construction of a 17-story, mixed-use apartment building and garage. In addition, westbound Reedy Street also will be closed between Eggleston and Broadway.
The detour for Eighth Street will be north on Broadway, west on Ninth and south on Sycamore.
Motorists exiting the Gilbert Avenue viaduct will be directed to use the same detour.
The north sidewalk on Eighth between Broadway and Sycamore will remain open.
Detour signage will be posted to help direct motorists and pedestrians.
The crane will be in place until November 2016 as crews erect the residential tower and 500-space, seven-level garage that will sit on the site of a former Red Cross office and immediately adjacent to a Holiday Inn, also under construction on the southeast portion of the block along Seventh and Broadway.
The curb lane and sidewalk along Sycamore and Seventh streets around the block that includes the mixed-use tower, garage and Holiday Inn sites will remain closed until construction wraps up on both projects in 2016.
The garage will serve the hotel, apartments and general public.
