CINCINNATI – Third Street will be closed between Walnut and Vine, and Walnut will be closed between Third and Fourth streets at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 7, until 6:00 a.m. Monday, May 11, so crews may install track for the Cincinnati Streetcar.

Motorists traveling on Walnut Street will be detoured west at Fourth Street, then south at Race. Motorists on Third Street will be detoured south at Walnut and west at Freedom Way. Please see the map below for details on the detours.

To help maintain traffic flow, Cincinnati police officers will manually control signals at key intersections during morning and evening rush hours Friday. In addition, officers will remain stationed at the intersections of Third and Walnut and Fourth and Walnut from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Local access to businesses, residences and parking garages will be maintained on both Walnut Street and Third Street, as well as pedestrian access.

Walnut Street currently is reduced to two through-traffic lanes from Fourth Street south to Third as crews prep the area for track.

Other streetcar work
In the northern part of the streetcar route, crews are paving 12th Street between Main and Elm. The eastbound lanes of 12th Street are closed in this stretch today, Tuesday, May 5, to allow crews to pave. Detour and directional signage is posted in the area. Crews will prep and pave Race Street from Findlay Street to Green Street the remainder of this week and next.

Meanwhile, farther south, the westbound side of Court Street between Main and Walnut will be closed 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 9, so crews may repair street pavers. Motorists will be detoured north on Main, west on Central Parkway and south on Walnut.
