Twelfth Street Closed Daily Next Week Between Elm & Central Parkway

CINCINNATI –
Twelfth Street will be closed daily next week between Elm and Central Parkway so crews may use a crane to deliver construction materials and equipment to the Cincinnati Shakespeare Co. site.

This stretch of 12th will be closed 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, through Friday, Dec. 23. The road will be reopened each evening.

Through traffic will continue to be allowed on Elm Street. Motorists on Elm who wish to turn west onto 12th will be detoured via Grant Street to Central Parkway.

Local access to businesses and residences on 12th also will be allowed.

Crews are preparing for a concrete pour and will erect more steel as the building continues to take shape. Exterior construction is slated to be finished this spring.

Walnut Street Closed Between Fourth & Fifth Early Saturday Morning

CINCINNATI – Walnut Street will be closed between Fourth and Fifth streets from 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, until 7:00 a.m., so crews may use a crane to hoist roofing materials atop the U.S. Bank tower.

The closure, which is on the streetcar route, will take place after the Cincinnati Bell Connector’s last run downtown and before service resumes.

Motorists traveling on Walnut will be detoured east at Fifth, south on Sycamore, west on Fourth and south again on Walnut. Through access on Fifth Street will be allowed during the closure.

Access to the Renaissance Hotel will be via Fourth Street.

I-71 South Bridge Deck: Culvert & Sentinel Closing Overnight for Rebar Delivery

 CINCINNATI – Parts of Culvert and Sentinel streets will be closed overnight tonight Monday, Dec. 5, and again Thursday, Dec. 8, from 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the next day for crane-assisted deliveries of rebar to crews reconstructing the southbound bridge deck on Interstate 71 near Lytle Tunnel.


To safely accommodate the crane, the northern end of Culvert Street will be closed from Sentinel to Reedy, and Sentinel will be closed to Fifth Street.

Motorists will be detoured via Eggleston Avenue. Signs will be posted on site to help direct motorists.

Crews for the Ohio Department of Transportation are preparing for another concrete pour. The timing of the pour will depend on weather conditions.

The contractor finished demolition of the old deck last month. Reconstruction of the northbound side of I-71 will begin after the southbound side is finished this winter.

Work to replace the southbound bridge deck between the entrance to Lytle Tunnel and the pedestrian bridge to Mount Adams began in September.

Sycamore Closes 13th to 14th Saturday to Remove Crane at Ziegler Park

CINCINNATI – Sycamore Street will be closed between 13th and 14th streets this Saturday, Dec. 3, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. so crews may dismantle and remove a 100-ton crawler crane from the construction site at Ziegler Park.

Motorists traveling north on Sycamore will be detoured west on 13th, north on Main, east on 14th and north again on Sycamore. Motorists traveling south on Sycamore will be detoured east at 14th, south on Broadway, west on 13th and south again on Sycamore.

Detour signage will be posted on site to help direct motorists and pedestrians.

The crane has been on site since late September to assist construction crews renovating and expanding Ziegler Park.

The park is on the eastern edge of Over-the-Rhine, adjacent to the old School for Creative & Performing Arts and south of the Peaslee Neighborhood Center.

The $30 million project includes a new aquatic center, deep-water pool, sprayground, playground, basketball courts, green space and an underground parking garage.

​The 400-space garage is scheduled to open early next month. Work on the park is slated to finish by early next summer.
