Update: As of Sept. 1, 2020
STATUS: Installation of the new gas line is complete. Crews are connecting the remaining service lines. The final step is to purge air out of the line at the tie-in points between the new and existing lines.
TIME LINE: All work is expected to be completed by or before Oct. 1, 2020.
What to Expect During Excavation and Installation
Motorists should expect mostly single-lane closures and reduced on-street parking per given block while work is under way. Sidewalks on the south side of Fourth also may be restricted while work is under way, though it will vary, depending on the scope of work in each block.
The scope of work in each block will include:
- Digging a trench
- Installing a new segment of pipe
- Service hookups to individual customer meters
- Restoration of asphalt pavement or concrete on affected streets and sidewalks
Crews will typically work Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. but will be allowed to work in the evenings and on weekends if there are no conflicts with other construction projects or events. Trenches are required to be covered with steel plates once crews finish working each day.
